How long do I have to make a claim?

You can claim 3 years from the date you had the accident and injury.
There are some exceptions to this which would include:
• If the person affected by the accident no longer has the capacity of claiming themselves due to a brain injury.
• If the claim is placed by a parent or legal guardian on behalf of a child that was involved in the accident – which can be done any time until they turn 18. If the claim is still not done then, the child has a 3 year window to place the claim after they turn 18.

How long does it take to settle a claim? (For Bicycle and Motorcycle claims)


As all cases vary, it’s not possible to provide an exact time a claim can take. However, in cases where there’s clear evidence of the issue that occurred, the claim may be settled withing 12 months.
On the other hand, if the injury you picked up in the accident was serious, the claim is more likely to take longer. This would be because further investigation may need to be conducted to settle any cost of rehab and treatments.

What does No Win No Fee mean?

No win, no fee means exactly that. You won't pay a penny unless your claim is successful. Where you claim is successful, the fee is up to 25% of the reward you receive. Each case is different, so costs vary, but you're protected by the 25% price cap. 

 Can I claim for someone else if they are unable to?



Yes – depending on the circumstances. An example would be claiming for a child if they were injured or if a loved one have lost their mental capacity after the accident. This is supported by The Mental Capacity Act 2005 as a way of helping those who do not have the mental capacity to claim themselves or make their own decisions. Nevertheless, what would be required from you is to have all their details at hand to be able to give the appropriate information. You would be supported by a personal injury solicitor throughout this process to ensure everything is fine.
